This week's "article" is actually an eloquent and very readable piece- originally given as a medical school commencement speech- by Atul Gawande about how medical care needs to evolve to focus on teamwork and effective (both outcomes-effective, and cost-effective) care.
The title, "Cowboys vs. Pit Crews", emphasizes that the answer is in structuring systems for success, rather than focusing on individual practitioners. Something to think about as we strive to deliver the best and safest care to our patients.
