Weekly Article: Firearm injuries in children presenting to the ED

Dear All,

Happy Inauguration and MLK day!

In light of recent events and the nationwide gun control discussion, on this special day, I thought an article on firearm injuries in children would be appropriate.
Nooooo! Do not worry! This is not another ideological or political discussion, but a scientific article reporting the number of firearm injuries in children presenting to the ED. I thought it could be interesting to actually know what we're dealing with amidst the media reports and people's opinions. Firearm injuries in children

Note:
Nationwide Emergency Department Sample (NEDS) is a 20% stratified sample of hospital based EDs from 28 participating states. This dataset could be used for other studies you're interested in. And as most of us have heard, there's going to be $$$ in for research on gun violence.... Hmmm! Maybe starting with a survey of teenagers (not here for a firearm injury) but who report ever being in contact with a gun?!?... just a thought....

Cheers,
Rasha
